BATON ROUGE, La. – In the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, the #15 seeded Jacksonville Dolphins were defeated by #2 LSU, 116-58.

The Tournament appearance was Jacksonville’s first since 2016 and second over the history of the program. Jacksonville got to the Pete Maravich Center for the First Round by way of winning the ASUN Tournament as the #2 seed.

By game’s end, Jacksonville was led by junior forward Carmaya Bowman’s 14 points, followed by ASUN Freshman of the Year Tatum Brown’s 11 in the pair’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Playing in her final college game, senior Makiya Miller tallied nine points on a team-high 3-4 from range. Miller made three of the team’s five total 3-pointers.

Also playing in final college game, graduate Priscilla Williams played just eight minutes before leaving with an upper body injury. Williams finished her JU career with an ASUN Player of the Year nod this season and over 1,000 points scored in her college career. She finished her first time playing in the NCAA Tournament with five points, connecting on a triple and a pair of free throws.

The Dolphins found themselves down 34-14 after the conclusion of the first quarter but exploded for 22 points to finish out the first half. With about three minutes to play in the half, the JU defense forced four consecutive LSU turnovers and mounted a 9-0 run to go into the halftime break down 64-36.

At the break, Bowman led the squad with 10 points followed by seven from Brown. Both Bailey Burns and Brown had two steals.

JU scored 12 in the third and 10 in the fourth to finish out its historic season.

Burns finished the game with six points to her name, adding all her points around the rim. Mariah Knight tallied five points and tied the team-high with two assists alongside Brown.

Comari Mitchell and Miller led the battle of the boards for the ‘Phins with four each, part of a 21-rebound night for the Dolphins.

Jacksonville finished the game shooting 38.7% from the field and 83.3% from the charity stripe, connecting on 5-6 from the line. Both Mitchell and Williams went perfect on their two free throw attempts.

The Dolphins’ 2025-26 campaign ended with a 24-9 overall record, tying the most wins in a single season by the program. The team won the ASUN Tournament for the first time since the ’16 season where they last went to the Big Dance.

Williams, Miller and senior Kali Howard all suited up for the Dolphins for the last time, helping lead Jacksonville to its most decorated season in a decade.

Jacksonville now hits the offseason going into the fourth year under head coach Special Jennings who has led the Dolphins to enormous heights in her three years on campus.
