Florida Gators center Olivier Rioux made NCAA Tournament history when he subbed in late in Friday night’s 114-55 blowout of Prairie View A&M.
That substitution officially made Rioux, who is listed at 7-foot-9, the tallest player in March Madness history.
Shortly after checking in to the game, Rioux grabbed an offensive rebound and reached up for a tip-in dunk.
Rioux then recorded an assist on Florida’s final basket of the blowout win, a three-pointer from CJ Ingram with 43 seconds left on the clock.
This isn’t the first time Rioux has made history this season. He became the tallest men’s college basketball player to record a field goal during a win over Saint Francis on Dec. 17.
Rioux, who saw limited playing time in 10 games for the Gators this season, could potentially see more March Madness action if Florida can secure any more postseason blowouts.
The next opponent for the top-seeded Gators will be No. 9 Iowa, which advanced to the second round with a Friday win over Clemson.
