A group of college students are working to change the conversation about mental health for young adults in Central Florida.On Saturday, March 28, more than 150 students from the University of Central Florida will gather for the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk, to help spread their message: help is out there, and it’s OK not to be OK.This event is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) signature student fundraising series, designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide.Click here to sign up for free or donate.Community vendors, businesses and organizations will join the students at UCF’s Memory Mall.Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 10 a.m., then Knightro and the UCF cheer team will lead the charge for the 5K walk around campus.Student organizations Active Minds and HOPE at UCF are honored to start the conversation about suicide on campus and bring hope to the Knight community. Money raised from the walk benefits AFSP. This year’s goal is $18,000.
