The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office states that the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced on Saturday the “quick arrest” of a man they say killed his father on the city’s Eastside.

JSO says officers responded to a shooting, which happened at a home in the 1200 block of Grant Street at around 4:50 p.m. on Friday.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the victim, who has been identified as 50-year-old Michael Johnson, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff’s office states that after interviewing witnesses at the home, they identified Johnson’s son, 26-year-old David Johnson, as the gunman.

David was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday, and taken to the Duval County Jail.
