This is one of those stories that makes you want to not stay in Airbnbs, avoid the state of Florida, and maybe log off the internet for a while altogether.

And if it feels like we’ve been here before, you’re not wrong. Not long ago, we covered a Florida case involving a woman accused of attacking a pregnant driver, assaulting an elderly bystander, and even biting a police officer.

Now, somehow, we’ve got another one.

Sorry, Florida. We still love you, but you’re not exactly helping your case right now. Because this actually happened.

A 31-year-old Pensacola woman is facing felony charges after police say she caused thousands of dollars in damage across two Airbnb properties, allegedly turning someone else’s rental homes into the backdrop for adult content.

Police Say the Damage Was Intentional

According to WEAR Channel 3 News, Nicolette Keough has been charged with two counts of felony criminal mischief after allegedly urinating on furniture and household items inside two Airbnb homes in downtown Pensacola.

Investigators say the acts were not accidental. The arrest report states she filmed herself urinating on items throughout the properties and later uploaded the videos to an adult content platform, allegedly to generate income.

“There was a young lady inside making money in a very unusual way that damaged somebody else’s property,” Pensacola Police Officer Mike Wood said.

Police also noted this was far from a typical case.

“We’ve seen damage to Airbnbs and hotel rooms before, but nothing like this,” Wood added.

Thousands of Dollars in Property Damage

Authorities estimate the total damage at around $3,000, enough to elevate the charges to felony level.

Items reportedly ruined include an antique chair, typewriter, coffee maker, toaster, television, record player, bedding, and a rug. The Airbnb host told deputies that every contaminated item would need to be replaced.

Both properties were reportedly owned by the same host.

Airbnb Responds

Airbnb confirmed the guest has been removed from the platform and that it is assisting the host through its AirCover protection program.

“This kind of behavior has no place on Airbnb,” the company said in a statement, adding that property damage incidents are rare and hosts are supported through reimbursement programs.

The company also notes its policies prohibit using properties for commercial or adult content purposes.

Insurance Experts Say Don’t Rely on the Platform Alone

Even with Airbnb protections in place, insurance professionals say hosts should still carry their own coverage.

“If for nothing else, you need to have some sort of liability coverage in place,” insurance agent Kristi Summers said.

She also stressed the importance of documentation, including photos and proof of condition before and after stays when filing claims.

Commenters Were Equal Parts Grossed Out and Morbidly Entertained

Many viewers reacted with outright disgust, with comments like “This is disgusting” and “That’s enough internet for today.” Others pointed to her demeanor, saying she appeared unusually proud, which only made the situation feel more surreal.

At the same time, the internet did what it always does. The comment section quickly filled with jokes, puns, and off-color humor, even as the underlying story left a lot of people genuinely unsettled.

There were also plenty of people asking the uncomfortable question out loud: if this was allegedly being done for money, who exactly is paying for it?

The Story Also Sparked a Bigger Airbnb Debate

Some viewers used the story to criticize Airbnb more broadly, arguing that short-term rentals come with risks like this, while others tied it to larger frustrations around housing and neighborhood disruption.

That does not excuse the alleged behavior, but it does show how quickly a bizarre story can tap into bigger conversations.

A Very 2026 Kind of Story

There was a time when a property damage case would just be a police report and a repair bill.

Now it comes with content creation, monetization, platform bans, and a comment section that somehow manages to be both horrified and entertained at the same time.

Current Status

Keough was taken into custody and later released on a $5,250 bond.

It is currently unclear whether she has legal representation.

A Quick Reality Check for Hosts

As bizarre as this story is, it does highlight something worth thinking about for anyone renting out property.

If you are listing a home on Airbnb or any short-term rental platform, it is a good reminder to have solid insurance in place and to document the condition of your property. Photos, inventory lists, and clear records can make a big difference if something goes wrong.

Because as this case shows, problems are not always limited to the usual wear and tear.

Even with the best preparation, you cannot possibly anticipate every scenario. Sometimes the risks are just… stranger than expected.
