JSO detectives said the shooting happened at a house on the Westside overnight, and one of the adults in the home ran from the scene.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A two-year-old boy is dead after JSO detectives said an argument among adults led to a gun being fired and hitting him on the Westside late Sunday night.
JSO detectives said their officers responded to a home on the 1200 block of Labelle Street on Jacksonville’s Westside just before midnight Sunday.
Officers entered the home and found the two-year-old suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
JSO detectives said the shooting stemmed from an argument among adults that escalated. A gun was fired, hitting the child. One of the adults ran from the home following the shooting and is still at large, detectives said, although a physical description and relationship to the child was not given.
Detectives said two other children under the age of 10 were inside the home at the time of the shooting, and no other injuries were reported. All other adults in the home are cooperating with authorities.Â
