A road rage shootout ended with a man killed after Jacksonville police said both drivers stopped their vehicles to confront each other near the on-ramp to Interstate 95 at Edgewood Avenue West.
The Sheriff’s Office said it happened about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 22, and that a man in his early to mid-30s was shot in the chest and died at the scene.
The male shooter left in a small silver SUV, but no other details were released.

Jacksonville police investigate a late-night road rage shootout at Edgewood Avenue and Interstate 95 with one person killed March 22, 2026.
This was at least the second road rage shooting this year in Jacksonville. On Feb. 3 a man was wounded in the abdomen in the 1700 block of St Johns Bluff Road. The initial investigation revealed the victim followed the other man after a hit-and-run incident in which they were both involved. At some point the driver in a gray Mitsubishi SUV stopped and opened fire on the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the area, the Sheriff’s Office sad at the time.  No arrests have been reported.
