A late-night domestic dispute in an apartment at Valencia Way led to gunfire that took the life of a 2-year-old boy, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Two other children younger than 10 were also in apartment former known as Eureka Garden at 1214 Labelle St. when police were called shortly before midnight on March 22, the Sheriff’s Office said. The child was transported with a single gunshot wound to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff’s Office said the dispute was between adults and one fled the scene.

“Other than the adult who fled, all other adults who were present are cooperating,” the Sheriff’s Office said, noting no one else was injured.

The Sheriff’s Office did not specify the relationships of those involved
