Opening Statements underway in the federal trial of a former Miami Congressman. David Rivera is accused of secretly lobbying for Venezuela’s government during the first Trump administration. Prosecutors say he was a hired gun for former President Nicolas Maduro. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to testify tomorrow. He is not charged in the case, but he and Rivera are former roommates and prosecutors say Rivera thought of him as a key ally in his outreach to the White House. Rivera is charged with money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent.
