The Central Florida chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving had its fifth annual gala at SeaWorld Orlando over the weekend.WESH 2’s traffic expert, Meaghan Mackey, had the honor of emceeing the event for the fourth year in a row.The gala brought together families impacted by impaired driving, along with local law enforcement, to honor victims, raise awareness and support efforts to prevent future tragedies.Organizers said the evening was a success, saying they met their goal and raised more than $46,000 for the cause.Mackey served as emcee for the night, while Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon delivered the keynote address.Several individuals were recognized for their dedication to ending impaired driving, including Officer Josue Torres of the Orlando Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.Torres received MADD’s Visionary Award for his commitment both on and off the job.
