Calling all strawberry fans! There’s a special limited-time menu available at one spot in Disney Springs that you do NOT want to miss, and you’ve only got until April 3rd to give it a try!

Pinchos de fresas, sandía y tomate

Over at Jaleo, you’ll find the Strawberry Festival in full swing. There are eight new menu offerings to try during this special event, and if you’re someone who loves the flavor of fresh strawberries in unique dishes, we can confirm after our visit that this is one event you can’t miss.

Again, the Strawberry Festival runs through April 3rd, and we strongly suggest grabbing a reservation to ensure you can snag your spot ahead of time. We got the chance to sit down with the owners of Southern Hill Farms while we ate, who have partnered with Jaleo for this special menu for the past four years. During our conversation, we found out that the chef at Jaleo even went out and picked the strawberries fresh that morning!

We can’t wait!

Our drink was first, which was the Strawberry Angel for $22. This was strong with a burn that was pleasantly satisfying. The lemon flavor comes through more than the strawberry, and we feel the simple syrup does a lot of the heavy lifting here, but we enjoyed the sour taste on the end to punctuate everything.

Next were the Texturas de Frutas for $16, which is s selection of strawberry spheres and cones. The sphere was like a giant popping pearl, and we were instructed to place the spoon in our mouth, slide the spoon out, leave the sphere on our tongue, and then burst it. It was really fun and unique, and had a burst of flavor that was sweet and sour.

As for the Cones, this was one of our favorites of the night. It had a really satisfying crunch, like an ice cream cone does, and it tasted like cream cheese on the inside with a strawberry jam, with baked cheese on top. It was both savory and sweet and we couldn’t get enough.

The Gazpacho de fresas is $11 and is Cold soup with strawberries, tomatoes, cucumber, and green bell pepper. We liked the idea behind this, but the execution wasn’t 100% there. It tasted like strawberry salad dressing in a bowl, so it wasn’t our favorite.

Gazpacho de fresas

Next was the Ensalada de fresas, tomate, aguacate y queso de cabra for $14, which is a Salad of strawberries, tomatoes, avocado, goat cheese and sherry dressing. We were surprised at how much we liked this one, but the flavors both worked well together, and also had their own individual moments. The sweetness of the strawberries and tomatoes were offset really well with the saltiness of the goat cheese and dressing.

Ensalada de fresas

We also got to try the Pinchos de fresas, sandía y tomate for $10, which is Strawberry, watermelon and tomato skewers with sherry dressing. The contrasting flavors here worked beautifully, and we do recommend eating it all in one bite to get all the flavors in one. The strawberries and tomatoes were sweet, and the salty ham and “spicy” tajin coated watermelon pieces are excellent book ends. We would absolutely get it again!

Next up was the Hamachi crudo con fresas for $17. This was a little plain, unfortunately, and we were hoping for a bit more. The fish was served raw and was pretty similar to how nigiri is served, minus the rice. The strawberry consume was sweet, but didn’t really have a lot of flavor, and we had trouble telling the difference between the white soy and sesame.

For $12, you can get the Coca de queso idiázabal y mermelada de fresas, which is Olive oil and rosemary cracker with strawberry marmalade and grated idiazabal cheese. This was also incredibly unique! The cheese on top was shaved so finally that it melted almost immediately in your mouth, and its texture was so interesting. This dish is pretty sweet and some people at our table even said that it should be for dessert, especially since the tomato tasted more like strawberry marmalade!

For dessert, we got the Fresas con nata for $10, which is A traditional spanish dessert, “strawberries with cream.” Was this a simple dish? Yes, but we loved it! The strawberries were peeled, which was really unique and created a really smooth texture. On top of the cream were pieces of salt and olive oil as well, which added a really nice salty flavor and balanced the sweetness of the strawberries. In the cream was also an orange liqueur, which is so subtle, but compliments the strawberry so well.

We think this is a great menu and absolutely worth checking out, but remember, you’ve only got a few weeks, so check it out sooner than later so you don’t miss it. Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney World news!
