Fort Lauderdale, FL – Travelers at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport are still experiencing long lines at security checkpoints as the Transportation Security Administration faces staffing shortages during a high volume travel period.

The delays come as passenger traffic remains elevated, particularly with spring travel contributing to increased demand across major airports.

The situation in Mexico has become so serious that the \u003ca href=\”https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/mexican-riviera-worst-ever-sargassum-season/\” target=\”_blank\”>Mexican navy has deployed containment barriers and amphibious collection boats\u003c/a> working around the clock to hold back the seaweed.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Sargassum is a naturally occurring brown seaweed that floats in massive mats across the ocean’s surface. In open water, it plays a vital role in ocean health. It provides food, shelter, and breeding grounds for hundreds of marine species, including tuna, swordfish, sea turtles, and crabs. It also helps reduce beach erosion.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The problem begins when winds and ocean currents push it ashore. Once beached, sargassum decomposes and releases hydrogen sulfide, the same gas responsible for a rotten egg smell, which can cause headaches and respiratory irritation.
