JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus caught fire due to a mechanical issue Monday afternoon, but officials said no one was injured and bus routes remain unaffected.
Around 1 p.m., the JTA bus that was not in service and pulled to the side of the road on Arlington Expressway experienced a mechanical issue that caused a tire to catch fire, according to JTA official.
Emergency crews quickly responded and extinguished the blaze, officials said.
A Facebook user shared scene video that had been shared numerous times online.
There were no passengers on board and no injuries were reported, according to JTA.
JTA also reported no passengers or injuries and confirmed bus routes were not affected because of the fire.
Officials did not immediately release additional details about the mechanical failure or the extent of damage to the bus.
