CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)—A 22-year-old man accused of driving under the influence and causing a fatal crash was expected in court Monday.
The crash happened in late February at the intersection of Beach Parkway West and Oasis Boulevard. It claimed the life of 64-year-old Debbie Stortzum. Her husband, Chuck Stortzum, survived the impact but was severely injured.
Tyler Paul Janson, who is charged with DUI manslaughter and other felonies, did not appear in court for his arraignment.
Court records reveal that Janson and his attorney filed a notice of unavailability, indicating they couldn’t attend court this week.
A continuance was filed, and the next court date is set for May 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Janson remains in custody, still without bond.
