1. Nationwide delays not felt at Tampa airport, which isn’t on ICE list
Operations were running smoothly Monday at Tampa International Airport — this wasn’t the case at a number of other airports across the country.

2. Special Election arrives in key State Senate Distict 14 race
Current Republican State Representative Josie Tomkow and Democrat Brian Nathan are facing off for District 14’s state senate seat. That district covers parts of Hillsborough County, including South Tampa, Carrollwood and Westchase.

3. National average gas price could climb above $4 this week
Despite President Donald Trump’s announcement Monday that he will not immediately attack Iran’s energy infrastructure, gas prices are expected to continue to climb..

4. Trump says U.S. is talking with an Iranian leader as he extends deadline for striking power plants
Trump told reporters Iran wants “to make a deal,” and claimed U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner had held talks with an Iranian leader on Sunday. He did not say who that was, but said the U.S. has not talked to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

5. Manasota Beach Road residents resist $15 million expansion OK’ed by Sarasota commissioners
Homeowners in Englewood are speaking out against what they are calling an unwanted neighbor — the Manasota Beach Road expansion.

CLEARWATER GARDENS GRAND OPENING | Archway Partners, in partnership with the city of Clearwater, Clearwater CRA, Clearwater Housing Authority, and community stakeholders, will celebrate the grand opening of Clearwater Gardens, a newly constructed affordable housing community, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, March 24. The four-story development includes 81 apartment homes. The event starts at 9:30 a.m. at 1260 Cleveland St. in Clearwater.

TAMPA LANE CLOSURE | The outside westbound lane on Causeway Boulevard will be closed between South 82nd Street and South 86th Street while the Tampa Water Department conducts maintenance on the water distribution system. Barricades and signs will be located in the area to assist with rerouting and traffic flow. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by Thursday, March 27 at 5 p.m. The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.

ST. PETE JOB FAIR | Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, is partnering with Northwest Church of Christ to host a community job fair on Tuesday, March 24 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free, 1-on-1 job coaching sessions are available to participants to review resumes, and additional services will be available onsite.  Job seekers and employers can register at BetterTogetherUS.org/NorthwestCOC or by texting “JOBS” to 844-987-3949.

FUNDING GRANT APPLICATIONS | Pinellas County Human Services is accepting Social Action Funding Grant Program applications through Thursday, March 26 at 1 p.m. The program provides funding to social service organizations for priority services that directly serve Pinellas County citizens. The goals of the program are to address the health, economic and social wellbeing of county residents in need of assistance. Organizations may apply for up to $150,000 in funding, with the minimum grant being $10,000, and must align with defined social action priorities. Those interested in applying can do so here
