ST. PETERSBURG — A 66-year-old woman died after her car turned into the path of a pickup truck at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and 66th Street North, police said.
Joanne Grehan was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound on 66th Street North shortly after 10 a.m. March 17 when she made an improper left turn onto 38th Avenue North, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The Sentra pulled into the path of a southbound Ford F-150, police said. The collision sent the Sentra off the road and into a pole.
Greehan was taken to HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries. He stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.
The intersection was closed for more than an hour while traffic homicide detectives investigated.
