TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A comment by actor Ryan Gosling on a late-night talk show is setting off a Popped Tart frenzy at a Tallahassee bakery.
“I did not know that was coming. It was a total shock. I was blown into another universe,” Cake Shop owner Linda Richards said about Gosling’s comment. “That’s huge.”
The Cake Shop got the A-list shout-out last week, and word is spreading fast. Now the bakery is bustling trying to keep up with an influx of orders.

“It’s on fire. The phone rings off the hook. I have thousands of requests,” The Cake Shop Owner Linda Richards said when WCTV stopped by the bakery Monday.
People have been stopping by The Cake Shop all day for a chance to try one of the now-famous pastries.
One customer, Ian Osterhaus, left with two of them.
“I heard about these Popped-Tarts. My dad sent me an article. I was like, Tallahassee Popped-Tarts? I need some,” he said with a laugh. “I’m so excited.”
Richards said by mid-afternoon, the bakery had sold more than 100 popped tarts in the shop alone and orders are pouring in from all over the country, some for batches of hundreds at a time.
The Popped Tart’s fame follows actor Ryan Gosling’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers last week.

Gosling spotted Saturday Night Live dresser Donna Richards in the studio and raved about the sweet treats her sister sends by request.
“Can I mention your sister… She has a bakery in Tallahassee, Florida, and she makes the most incredible Popped-Tarts. You have to order these Popped-Tarts,” Gosling said. “Donna gives them to you at the beginning of the show, like when you start hosting, so you’re just running on Popped-Tarts the whole time.”
Now that the “Popped-Tarts” secret is out, Richards is asking people to be patient, as they’ll be baking Popped Tarts for weeks to fill thousands of orders.
Richards says Gosling’s favorite flavor is strawberry, but they also make blueberry, cinnamon, and peanut butter and jelly popped tarts.
“Everybody has something they want at any bakery, right?” she said. ‘Whether it’s a cookie or a cupcake or for me its monkey pie. It’s just everybody’s thing and that’s what it is evidently for him.”
