One individual was awarded one of the highest honors presented by the Leon County Sheriff’s office, the Medal of Valor. Reserve Deputy James Norris received the honor for his response to a life-threatening vehicle crash while off duty.

“I appreciate the honor, and it’s my pleasure to serve, and I look forward to doing so in the future,” Norris said. “I learned from my family service is a must. It’s an outlet for me to, being a reserved deputy, to give back to the community.”

Deputy Norris says he believes in giving back to the community that you live in.
