Storms return Tuesday as front moves into Central Florida

  • March 24, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will see rain chances increase Tuesday as a weak front moves in, bringing scattered showers, a few storms, and the potential for locally heavy rain along the coast into the night.

TODAY

The day starts quiet, but changes arrive quickly this afternoon as a weakening cold front approaches from the north.

Showers and a few storms could begin developing as early as 12–1 PM along the coast, then gradually spread south through the afternoon. Rain chances hold at 40-60%.

A few storms could become briefly strong, producing gusty winds, lightning, small hail, and heavy downpours.

Temperatures will vary depending on cloud cover and rain, with highs in the 70s north and mid to upper 80s farther south.

TONIGHT

The front will stall across the southern part of Central Florida tonight, keeping clouds and rain chances in place.

Some areas could see heavier pockets of rain, but confidence remains low on exactly where those totals set up.

WEDNESDAY

The stalled front will keep scattered showers and a few storms in the forecast, especially during the afternoon.

Rainfall totals will generally stay light, but brief heavier downpours will still be possible.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, some coastal areas could pick up 1 to 2 inches of rain as showers train, while inland spots still see isolated downpours.

LATE WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND

Drier weather returns Friday, with temperatures warming back into the 80s.

Another cold front will approach late Saturday into Sunday, bringing another chance for showers and possibly a storm, especially along the coast and southern areas.

Behind that front, breezy and cooler conditions are expected, with highs dropping back into the 70s Sunday and Monday.
