A freebie Quick Pick ticket turned one lucky person $56,000 wealthier on Monday.
The Fantasy 5 ticket spit out from a lottery machine at RaceTrac, 3690 Griffin Rd. near Hollywood, with the winning numbers 4-6-16-19-34. The prize is $56,921.11.
There was a second South Florida winning location in that Fantasy 5 game on March 23. The same cash value goes to whoever is holding a ticket with that number that was purchased at the Winn-Dixie at 17221 NW 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens.
So why was the Hollywood-area RaceTrac ticket free? Because in Fantasy 5, you win a free Quick Pick ticket by matching 2 out of 5 winning numbers from a previous draw, according to Florida Lottery rules. Once redeemed, that new $1 Fantasy 5 Quick Pick ticket, that cost you nothing, is your entry into the next available drawing.
That’s not unusual. The state’s other game, Florida Lotto, prints out free Quick Pick tickets for the next draw if you match 2 of 6 numbers.
There was no winner for the $135 million Powerball game. The next Powerball draw will be for $147 million Wednesday, March 25.
