Tampa police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead in Ybor City early Tuesday.
Just after 1 a.m., a man took a woman with a gunshot wound from the 1500 block of East Fifth Avenue to a nearby hospital, the Tampa Police Department said in a news release. Despite lifesaving efforts from medical staff, the woman died of her injuries.
While detectives are in the early stages of the investigation, preliminary information indicates the shooting was “an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another,” according to the news release.

“All parties involved have been identified and are cooperating with investigators,” the release states.
Police said they are working to notify the woman’s next of kin. No further information was released.
