Residents may be seeing and smelling smoke in the air in the early mornings and late afternoons.
A 35-acre mulch fire west of Interstate 95 near Range Line Road in western St. Lucie County that started March 1 still was burning as of March 24, said Florida Forest Service wildfire mitigation specialist David Grubich.

Smoke from a mulch fire is seen looking west from Hutchinson Island just south of the nuclear power plant in St. Lucie County on March 24, 2026.
No structures were threatened, Grubich said, and the fire was surrounded by ponds, a solar panel field and the C-23 canal.
