JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – The Jacksonville Police Department is investigating after a vehicle pursuit from a burglary scene early Tuesday morning, March 24.
Around 3:21 a.m., Jacksonville Police Chief Marcus Wood said they were alerted to an alarm at Edwards Grocery located on Alabama Highway 204.
When arriving at the location, an officer observed a car parked in front of the business and saw someone getting in the rear passenger side door.
The officer pulled into the parking lot of the store. That’s when police say the car fled the scene toward West Point Road on Alabama Highway 204.
The officer observed damage to the front door of the business and a large item believed to be a safe outside.
That’s when the officer began a vehicle pursuit with the suspect vehicle, which police said was occupied by at least two people.
The incident remains under investigation. More information will be released when it is available.
