JSO looking for Alexander Rivera-Russo in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash (WJXT)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office put out the identity of the 23-year-old man the agency said was responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash on University Boulevard in January.
The agency is currently searching for Alexander Rivera-Russo in connection with the crash that happened on the afternoon of January 2. JSO said Rivera-Russo was speeding in a Dodge Challenger along University Blvd. near Atlantic Boulevard when he crashed into a woman’s car, causing her to spin out and slam into a telephone pole, bursting into flames.
The Challenger then spun out into oncoming traffic and struck a Toyota heading south.
Police said Rivera-Russo got out of the car and ran away without calling for help or rendering aid. He has not been caught since then.
The woman, who was severely burned, died from her injuries, and two others were injured.
If you have any information that could help JSO find Rivero-Russo, you’re urged to call 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS to remain anonymous.
