Magic Vice Chair and former CEO Alex Martins has been inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame

Martins becomes the 14th inductee

Martins worked with Orlando leaders to see the city’s latest arena built and saw the Magic go to the NBA Finals in 1995 and 2009

Martins, the current vice chair and a former chief executive officer of the Magic, is part of the group that helped get the NBA team started in Central Florida.

“It’s something that I never dreamed would be a possibility,” Martins said. “I just think about all the incredible people that I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside. No one person does any of this; we all do it together. I’m incredibly grateful for them.”

Martins spent 14 years as the team’s CEO, becoming the organization’s vice chairman in 2025. He joined the organization in 1989 and spent a decade in Orlando in various senior-level management positions before moving on to some other professional sports franchises. In 2005, he returned, and over 20 years later, he became a member of the Hall of Fame.

“I like to be remembered as a leader of our employees, a leader in our community,” Martins said. “Leadership is important to me. As I look to the next chapter of my career, my desire is to help leaders grow for the future.”

During Martins’ tenure, he led the Magic’s effort to work with Orlando officials to see the Amway Center, now the Kia Center, become a reality and saw the Magic make it to the NBA Finals in 1995 and 2009.

“We gave everything that we had to make this organization an integral part of the city. I don’t need to remember me,” Martins said. “I just want to remember those incredible moments that, hopefully, we helped build for them.”
