With 61 team registered so far the season-opening St. Petersburg Grand Prix this weekend, the International Hot Rod Association is off to a strong start with its inaugural offshore racing season. The current 61-team roster is the largest in years for the Southwest Florida venue, and more than three days remain before the first race begins.

On the Spec-class side, Super Stock leads all categories with 15 teams signed up so far. The Pro Class 1, Super Cat and Factory Stock class each have six registered teams. A trio of Mod V teams and one Super V team currently are registered.
In the Bracket ranks, the 500-class has the most teams inked with six outfits registered so far. Both the Bracket 600 and 700 group have five teams registered. Bracket 200 class has three teams signed up at the moment, while the Bracket 300 group currently has two boats on the roster.
All Bracket-class competition, as well as the first Pro Class 1 race of the weekend and qualifying for the Super Stock category is scheduled for Saturday, March 28. All of the Spec classes will compete Sunday, March 29.
