If you missed the big rush for books at the Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Library Giant Book Sale last month, you have a second chance this weekend.
The Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Library is holding their second giant book sale of the season at the Fort Myers Beach Library this Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29. The book sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We will be selling books that we never even unpacked for the last sale,” Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Library board member Jan Fleming said. “In addition, we will have CDs, DVDs, and puzzles. Fill up a bag for only $10 with books, CDs, and DVDs. The puzzles are sold separately at $3 each.”
Large canvas Friends of the Library bags will be available for purchase for $10.
Last month’s giant book sale was the first one at the library since before Hurricane Ian and featured a record amount of sales. The sale proceeds go back to the Friends of the Library and are used to support the Fort Myers Beach Library. The nonprofit also operates a gift shop on the third floor of the library.
Attendees can also purchase a $25 Family Membership or $250 for a lifetime membership with the Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Library. Those who purchase a membership receive a free bag or library shirt.
The nonprofit organization could use volunteers to help unpack books on Thursday. For those interested in volunteering, help on Thursday will be needed at the library starting at 9 a.m. to unpack the books. Volunteers are also needed during the day on Saturday and Sunday, and on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. help with packing up the leftover books. No heavy lifting is required. The library lost thousands of books after flooding during Hurricane Ian in 2022 and reopened last year. The Fort Myers Beach Library is located at 2755 Estero Boulevard.
