TAMPA — Defenseman Victor Hedman will take a temporary leave of absence from the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team disclosed Wednesday.
In a post on X, the team said the leave is for personal reasons.
Hedman has played in 33 games this season for the Bolts, who entered play Wednesday with a 44-21-5 record. The Bolts are second in the Atlantic Division, two points behind the Buffalo Sabres.
Hedman has spent his entire 17-year career with the Lightning.
The Bolts are back on the ice Thursday night for a 7 p.m. game against the Seattle Kraken at Benchmark International Arena.
