TAKE A LISTEN YOURSELF. A SILENCE BROKEN BY LOUD BURSTS OF SOUND AND NORTH WEST 20TH AVENUE LATE SUNDAY NIGHT. THEY WERE JUST LIKE, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. GRACE CUPOLA INSIDE HER HOUSE WITH HER 4 CHILDREN. THERE WERE. >> ALMOST A DOZEN GUNSHOTS. AND YOU KNOW, AT THE END OF THE VIDEO SOUNDED LIKE SQUEALING TIRES. SHE SAYS HER HUSBAND HEARD IT FROM THE BEDROOM AND THEN RAN OUTSIDE INTO THE DARK. THE ONLY THING HE SAW WAS A MAN WALKING DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN HE TURNED ON THE SIDE STREET RIGHT HERE AND HE YELLED OUT TO HIM. BUT THE MAN DIDN’T REPLY AT ALL. SO WE DON’T KNOW IF HE WAS OUT WHEN HE HEARD THE GUNSHOTS. I HAS BEEN SAID THAT THERE WAS A HOUSE DOWN THAT WAY THAT HAD ALL OF THEIR LIGHTS ON OUTSIDE. AND AS SOON AS HE CAME OUTSIDE, THEY ALL JUST SHUT OFF ANY TIME. YOU’RE GOING LET ABOUT OTHER NEIGHBORS SAY IT’S UNUSUAL TO HEAR ANYTHING AFTER DARK HERE ON THIS TUCKED AWAY STREET WERE FOR OFF THE ROADWAYS. >> IT’S NOT A THROUGHPUT ANYWHERE YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR WAY BACK CUPOLA SAYS THEY CALLED POLICE, BUT KPD SAYS THEY COULDN’T FIND ANY SHELL CASINGS, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR ANYONE HURT. JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY’S SAFE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. WE DON’T WANT ANYTHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN. AND I GUESS STRAY BULLET COMES THROUGH A HOUSE OR SOME THINKS THERE’S TONS OF KIDS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. WE JUST WANT TO FEEL SAFE. POLICE SAY THEY DID TALK TO THE MAN BELIEVED TO BE SEEN IN THE STREETS SUNDAY NIGHT, BUT THEY SAID HE DIDN’T HAVE A GUN AND HE WAS ON RELATED TO THE CALL. Police investigate reports of possible shots fired in northwest Cape Coral

Several neighbors on Northwest 20th Avenue reported hearing a series of loud sounds late Sunday night and captured unsettling video of the disturbance on their security cameras.”There were almost a dozen gunshots, and then at the end of the video, it sounded like squealing tires,” said Grace Coppola, a mother of four who lives in the neighborhood. Coppola says her husband ran outside right after, and saw a man in the street.”He yelled out to him, but the man didn’t reply at all,” she said. “My husband said that there was a house down the way that had all of their lights on outside, and as soon as he came outside, they all just shut off.”Neighbors describe the street as tucked away, with no through traffic and a mix of retirees and families, making it especially alarming. Another neighbor said it is the kind of neighborhood where you normally would not hear anything after dark.”We’re further off the roadway, it’s not a thoroughfare to anywhere… You have to find your way back here,” said Michael Meek.Cape Coral Police say officers responded to a report of “shots fired” but were unable to confirm that the sounds were gunfire. According to call notes, officers found no victims, shell casings, or property damage, and could not locate a source.
