Things are getting quite busy again at the Miami Hurricanes’ Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility.

It started when UM hosted Pro Day on Monday with more than 100 NFL personnel present.

And then on Tuesday, spring football practices officially began as the Hurricanes prepare for their 2026 season and follow up to a successful 2025 campaign that ended in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

In the latest episode of Eye on the U, Miami Herald Hurricanes beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre C. Fernandez take a look both at what to expect from the next month of spring practices and what unfolded at Pro Day.

The main talk with spring ball is new quarterback Darian Mensah, but intrigue abounds with how Miami’s offensive line will shake out, the receiving corps’ depth and who steps up on defense.

At Pro Day, all eyes were on Rueben Bain Jr., Akheem Mesidor and Francis Mauigoa — all potential first-round picks.

Afterward, they put a bow on a turnaround UM men’s basketball season in which first-year coach Jai Lucas took a Miami team that won seven games a season ago and turned it into an NCAA tournament team.
