The investigation revealed that a dispute between neighbors escalated when Fernandez retrieved a tan-handled sword with a roughly three-foot metal blade from his truck. Fernandez raised the sword above his shoulder and approached the victim while making threatening statements.

The victim retreated inside and called police. Officers later located Fernandez’s truck at his Southwest Sixth Place residence, where the sword was visible inside.

The sword was seized as evidence. Fernandez was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
