Brian Thomas JrBrian Thomas Jr

In what’s been a bit of a rocky season for Brian Thomas Jr and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now it seems like the door is open for the two sides to part ways. If the Jaguars do decide to move Thomas, the Denver Broncos should be looking to trade for him.

Recently, a rather shocking report came out from Dianna Russini about Thomas.

Russini made a post on X saying, “The Jaguars are listening on calls for WR Brian Thomas Jr., even if a move feels highly unlikely. They’re also shopping for defense.”

With that being the case, it seems like there’s a world where the Broncos would be able to successfully trade for Thomas and boost their chances of making a deep playoff run in 2025.

This is a PREDICTION, not a REPORT.

Brian Thomas Jr Trade Proposal to the Denver Broncos

It’s hard to imagine the Broncos would trade away Thomas at a very low asking price. At the very least, Thomas would be able to get them a first-round pick plus.

There are two options that would make sense for the Jaguars. To start, the Broncos could give up their 2026 1st round pick, 2026 2nd round pick, and Kris Abrams-Draine.

That would give the Jaguars a young, solid cornerback and draft capital back for Thomas. They can then use those picks however they want.

One other idea that’s more interesting would be the Broncos trading Jahdae Barron plus a third-round pick for Thomas. Although the Broncos just selected Barron, he hasn’t played much at all this year.

Barron is clearly a talented player as he was selected 20th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. It’s just that the Broncos haven’t given him many chances because their cornerback room is already strong.

The Jaguars could give Barron consistent playing time, which in theory would help him develop and find his footing this year. Despite trading for Greg Newsome, he’s not the Jaguars’ answer at cornerback.

Barron could be a phenomenal long-term solution for the Jaguars while also being an upgrade over Newsome right now. All things considered, though, the Jaguars should keep Thomas on their roster.

Although the Broncos trade idea isn’t wild, the talent is evident with Thomas, and it would make sense for the Jaguars to hold on and hope things turn around sooner rather than later.

Other Brian Thomas Jr Landing Spots

If the Jaguars were to trade Thomas though, one other landing spot for Thomas is the Buffalo Bills, who would love to trade for a WR1. After losing Stefon Diggs, the Bills have been looking for a new WR1 for years now.

With Keon Coleman looking disappointing right now, it’s time for the Bills to make a move. If the Bills have the chance to acquire Thomas, they should absolutely do so.

It would make sense for both the Broncos and Bills, so it’s going to come down to who can make the better offer. If the Broncos trade away Barron, it’s hard to see how the Bills would match that.

Brian Thomas Jr Stats

The thought of trading away Thomas last year would have been unthinkable after his rookie season. In 2024, Thomas had 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.

However, in 2025, Thomas had a really tough year with only 27 catches for 365 yards and one touchdown. Thomas’s YPG mark dropped from 75.4 to 52. On top of that, Thomas has yet to have a 100-yard game this year.

Brian Thomas Jr Contract

Right now, Thomas is on his rookie contract, which is a four year, 14,659,978 dollar deal. That means that, per Spotrac, Thomas is going to become a free agent.

The Broncos would be getting Thomas on a fantastic contract, but they’d also be giving Barron or Abrams-Draine on their rookie deal. There’s no guarantee that the Jaguars would trade away Brian Thomas Jr, but if they do, the Denver Broncos would be a good trade partner.
