The woman told Largo police that her husband would be trying to flee the country. He was found in Broward County and arrested for attempted homicide.

LARGO, Fla. — A man was arrested Friday after officials say he “intentionally” struck his wife with a vehicle and fled the scene.

At around 3 a.m., the Largo Police Department received a 911 call for a battery on Ulmerton Road. Investigators learned that a woman was struck by her husband, Dervante Stubbs, 32, with a vehicle.

Police say the woman was taken to a local hospital for significant injuries, and as of the latest update, she is stable. She reportedly told police that Stubbs would be trying to flee the country.

Stubbs was tracked and found in Broward County, where authorities say he was arrested for attempted homicide a few hours later.

He is currently awaiting transport to the Pinellas County Jail, officials say.

An investigation into the case is ongoing.
