JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. —

Tiger Woods, a legendary golf professional, was involved in a rollover crash just before 2 p.m. on Friday in South Florida.

The crash happened near 281 Beach Road on Jupiter Island.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded and discovered a truck and a Land Rover that had rolled onto the driver’s door.

Woods was uninjured, MCSO said.

Initially, deputies believed Woods was showing signs of intoxication.

“They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account,” the sheriff said.

MCSO said their investigation revealed the truck was traveling northbound and was turning into a driveway when the vehicle Woods was in overtook the truck, swerved and “clipped the back end of the trailer” of the truck.

“As (the other vehicle) was trying to move to the side of the road, the Land Rover overtook him at the last minute, swerved to avoid a collision, but clipped the back end of the trailer of the pressure cleaner apparatus,” officials said during the news conference.

Woods then crawled out of the passenger door of his vehicle, deputies said.

Roadside tests were conducted, and Woods was placed under arrest and transported to the Martin County Jail.

He is charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test; in this case, it was a test that the MCSO needed to determine whether Woods was impaired while driving or not.
