A Cape Coral police officer has been arrested, accused of battering his spouse.

On Friday, March 27, the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a disturbance involving an off-duty officer, Timothy Allen.

Upon investigating, officers determined that Allen battered his spouse, the police department stated in a press release.

The police department also stated that Allen has been placed on administrative leave until an internal investigation is conducted and an outcome is determined.

“As chief, I want to be clear that no one is above the law — regardless of their position or profession,” Police Chief Anthony Sizemore said in the statement. “We hold our officers to the highest standards, and when those standards are not met, we will act swiftly and transparently,”
