Smooth travel returns to Fort Lauderdale airport as TSA lines ease after spring break rush
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Travelers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were met with short lines and a smooth experience Saturday afternoon.
“I think now’s a good time, there’s not too many lines,” one traveler said.
Others echoed the same, saying security lines were quick and easy to get through.
“Pretty good so far,” another traveler said. “Short. Short enough.”
Traffic into the departures area was also light, making for an easy trip to the airport.
The calmer conditions come after long TSA lines were reported during the peak of spring break travel. There’s also some relief ahead for TSA workers, who are expected to start receiving full paychecks again Monday, according to the Department of Homeland Security — even as a partial government shutdown continues.
Some travelers said they were still surprised by how smooth things were.
It’s a different story at other airports across the country.
At Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, long lines stretched outside the terminal, with wait times lasting hours. Travelers at John F. Kennedy International Airport also faced heavy crowds and delays.
Meanwhile, operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport — one of the busiest airports in the world — appeared to be moving along at a steady pace.
