Jury selection begins Monday for a Jacksonville man accused of murdering two people, including Kamiyah Mobley’s brother.

Darien Mixson, 20, is accused of killing two men in a 2023 shooting. At the time of the murders, Mixson was 17 years old and a student at Ribault High School.

The shooting happened on March 1, 2023. Mobley’s brother, Craivon Aiken, and 19-year-old Devon Taylor were found dead at a home in Jacksonville’s Arlington area.

Aiken’s family made headlines in 1998 when a woman posing as a nurse kidnapped Mobley as a newborn from a Jacksonville hospital. The family was reunited in 2017, and Lifetime later shed light on the case, creating a movie in 2020.

At the time of Aiken’s death, Mobley wrote on Facebook, “It wasn’t about having a little brother for the first time, it was about being your big sister.”

Mixson faces charges of first-degree murder (two counts), armed burglary, grand theft auto, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent found to have committed a felony act.

Jury selection is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Forty-two jurors are expected to be picked, according to court records.
