A man who died following a March 28 shooting incident was identified as 79-year-old T.H. Robertson, an Indian River County Sheriff’s spokesperson said.

The 5:29 a.m. incident happened in the 8500 block of 64th Avenue in the Wabasso area, the agency stated. The location is northwest of the Indian River County Fairgrounds & Expo Center.

Sheriff’s officials went to the scene for a report of shots fired, said Lt. Kevin Jaworski, sheriff’s spokesperson.

Sheriff Eric Flowers said the shooting happened at about 5:30 a.m., where they received a call of shots fired and found a male lying on the scene. He was transported to the emergency room where he succumbed to his injuries, Flowers said in a video posted to Indian River County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.

“When deputies got on scene, that’s when they located the male and immediately started rendering aid,” Jaworski said.

The man publicly was identified March 30 as Robertson.

Jaworksi said the man was found outside behind his home. The sheriff’s office reported he sustained several gunshot wounds.

Jaworksi said he went to the scene and spoke to a number of individuals who reported hearing shots.

“We are still asking for community assistance and any leads or any video in the area that could have possibly captured anything,” Jaworski said.
