Formerly known as Margarita Wars, Creative Loafing Tampa Bay’s annual tequila tasting and throwdown is always the publication’s tipsy-est event. Known in 2026 as the Tequila & Tiki Takedown, the evening featured sample galore, food to soak it all up, plus the opportunity for attendees to crown “Tampa Bay’s Ultimate Tequila Cocktail.”

At the end, Elevage took come critic’s pick for best cocktail while Jotoro claimed the people’s pick for best cocktail. Here’s every one we saw tying one on last Friday at Hotel Flor in downtown Tampa.

WE LOVE OUR READERS!

And are love this community. Since 1988, Creative Loafing has been Tampa Bay’s free, independent voice and we want to keep it that way—so in 2026 a group of employees joined two new partners to buy the paper and make it locally-owned for the first time since 2009.

We want to expand our coverage of local news, food, nightlife, events, and culture with no paywalls through our new Tampa Bay Journalism Project initiative.

Pitch in today because you love this community, too.
