The Miami Dolphins announced Sunday morning starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been added to the team’s injury report ahead of their game against the Atlanta Falcons. A Sunday addition to an injury report is an unusual move, but a warranted one in this case. Tagovailoa has been added due to an illness.

The team indicated they are not giving him a game designation. He is still expected to start. The Dolphins and Falcons kickoff at 1 p.m. Eastern.

The inactive players list will be released at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, which will solidify Tagovailoa’s availability for the game, but it does sound like the Dolphins are being overly caution with the NFL rules in adding Tagovailoa without concern of him being able to play.

Miami is 1-6 on the season and in need of a spark if they are going to make a miraculous return to competitiveness this year. Not having Tagovailoa on the field would be a huge blow to any remaining slim chances. Zach Wilson and rookie Quinn Ewers are the other two quarterbacks on the roster.
