TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Sheriff’s Office has a new approach to teaching kids about safety.
LCSO rolled out its “Safety Star Series” Tuesday, offering a weekly video series designed to help students learn important lessons in a way they can understand. Each episode will focus on a different safety topic, including stranger danger, online safety and crossing the street.
The series also features an AI-generated version of Sheriff Walt McNeil, who said the goal is to help kids feel more comfortable connecting with law enforcement.
“All kids understand that when something is wrong, they can sense that and they can understand that’s something that shouldn’t have happened and what we’re trying to do is give them the courage to speak out and talk about that in a safe environment,” he said.

Sabal Palm Elementary students watched the first episode of the series Tuesday.
“I think with these videos just giving something, everything, every week that they can refer back to, that is animated because they love the animation part of that and it’s something they can relate to,” Principal Latoyer Hankerson said.
All of the videos will be available on YouTube, making them easy for anyone to access.
