A teacher of Seminole County Public Schools has been arrested and is accused of having a relationship with a 13-year-old student and their mother, according to the Oviedo Police Department. Daniel Le Lievre, 41, was a former teacher at Tuskawilla Middle School.According to police, he was in a relationship with the mother of a student from October 2023 until the beginning of January 2024, according to the arrest report. During this time, police discovered that the mother and her children, including the victim, would spend the night at Le Lievre’s home. The victim would spend time alone with Le Lievre before school, during school and after school. The former teacher had a desk drawer designated for the victim where she kept her personal belongings during the school day, the report claims.During the victim’s alone time with Le Lievre, police said it was common for the two of them to hold hands and hug before things escalated. When Le Lievre and the mother of the victim’s relationship ended, he claimed to have only dated her to “get close to” her daughter, the report said.The former teacher had access to school accounts that allowed him to make changes to student schedules. Police said he used this system to put the victim in another one of his classes without the knowledge or consent of the victim’s mother.Police also discovered that Le Lievre would create websites and “throw-away emails” and even taught the victim Morse code so they could communicate secretly.Police spoke with the victim on Monday, March 30, who alleged she was raped by Le Lievre.OPD arrested Le Lievre at his residence the same day and transported him to the Seminole County Jail.The school board also investigated the incidents on two separate occasions in 2024. WESH 2 reached out to SCPS for comment, which provided the following statement:”We can confirm that Daniel Le Lievre was a teacher at Tuskawilla Middle School from 8/4/2022 through 5/03/2024.He was placed on administrative leave due to allegations of inappropriate communications/relations with a minor on 4/26/2024 and did not return to the classroom. Mr. Le Lievre resigned in lieu of termination and is not eligible for rehire.The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and any type of behavior that undermines that safety will not be tolerated at Seminole County Public Schools.”Le Lievre is charged with custodial sexual battery and sex offense by an authority figure soliciting a romantic relationship with a student. He is being held without bond.
