HUDSON — A family member accused of absconding from Florida with a 2-year-old child in January now faces criminal charges after the toddler was discovered living in Columbia County earlier this month.
After the child was reported missing from a community care center in the greater Miami region on Jan. 21, the Florida Department of Children and Families requested help from Hudson police, the department announced Tuesday. Officers and social workers took the child into protective custody in late March, the department said in a statement.
The child was transferred back to Florida, though police did not say who took custody.
The family member, who was not publicly identified, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor. The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately provide details about the case.
