PALM CITY, Fla. (CBS12) — An elementary school in Martin County was placed on a temporary lockout on Tuesday.

According to the Martin County School District, Bessey Creek Elementary School was placed on a temporary lockout out of an abundance of caution after the school received a tip through the Fortify system.

A message sent to families said the lockout only pertained to extended day and drama club students.

Once the lockout was lifted, the district sent a statement saying, “Following up on our earlier message regarding the lockout, law enforcement has confirmed that the tip referenced a school in another county and was not related to any MCSD school. The lockout has been lifted, and all activities continue as normal. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of Bessey Creek Elementary School.”

Law enforcement later confirmed the tip was not related to Bessey Creek Elementary School or the Martin County School District.

The lockout has since been lifted, and campus operations have resumed as normal.
