The Tallahassee Police Department says it has arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run. Nigeria Grant, 24, has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.

On March 5, officers responded to a crash in the area of West Tennessee Street and Junco Court that involved a sedan and a pedestrian. The driver of the sedan fled the scene and the pedestrian died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit conducted an investigation and managed to recover the vehicle involved in the crash and developed probable cause to make an arrest for Grant. On March 31, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force located and took Grant into custody.

“Our Traffic Homicide Unit worked diligently to identify the individual responsible in this case. Leaving the scene of a crash, especially one involving serious injury or death, is not only unlawful but a failure to render aid when it is needed most. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and pursuing justice for the victim and their loved ones,” Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said.
