The Saints defense played arguably its best half of the season, sacking Tampa quarterback Baker Mayfield three times, including forcing a fumble the team recovered with 47 seconds left. Defensive end Chase Young was credited with 1.5 sacks and had the forced fumble that led to Blake Grupe’s 48-yard field goal.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara joined another exclusive list Sunday when he became the fourth running back in NFL history to have 600 or more receptions. He entered Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needing two receptions to hit the milestone and accomplished that in the final minute of the second quarter. He had two receptions for 24 yards and three carries for 12 yards.
The Bucs (5-2) will get the ball to start the second half.
