The iconic Hogwarts Castle in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade is being refurbished. Scaffolding wrapped in gray scrim blocks most of the castle’s towers from view.
When we shared aerial photos of the refurbishment in March, scrim stopped about halfway up the largest tower. It’s now almost completely blocked from view. From across the park, we could see the very top of its spire peeking through scaffolding.
Inside the Wizarding World, only a few towers on the right and some lower walls are visible. Unfortunately, guests won’t be able to get picturesque castle photos while this work is ongoing.
Crew members will use the scaffolding to reach tall parts of the castle. The scrim protects them from the elements and keeps construction out of the view of guests.
Universal didn’t announce any details of the refurbishment, but the castle is likely to remain unchanged in appearance, receiving only a fresh coat of paint and some touched-up details.
The castle’s ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, remains open.
The nearby bridge connecting the Wizarding World and Jurassic Park is also being refurbished.
