Miami, FL – A community event in Miami is scheduled to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr on the anniversary of his assassination.
The Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation will host its annual Reclaim the Dream Memorial and Gospel Concert on April 4th at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
The event is set to take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will bring together community members, local leaders, and faith based organizations for a program focused on remembrance and reflection.
April 4 marks the date in 1968 when Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis, a moment that remains significant in U.S. history.
Organizers say the annual gathering is intended to recognize his contributions while encouraging continued awareness of issues related to civil rights, economic opportunity, and community development.
The program will include a candlelight prayer segment, which allows attendees to participate in a moment of reflection.
Event organizers say this portion has become a consistent part of the annual observance and is designed to honor King’s legacy through collective participation.
This year’s event will also feature a musical performance by gospel artist Kirk Franklin.
The concert element is intended to complement the memorial program by incorporating themes of faith and inspiration.
The Reclaim the Dream event has been held for more than 20 years and continues to serve as a platform for community engagement.
Organizers say the goal is to provide a space for reflection while recognizing the ongoing relevance of Dr. King’s message.
