FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that a funnel cloud was present in Cape Coral on Thursday evening.
Merriam-Webster defines a funnel cloud as a a funnel-shaped cloud that projects from the base of a thundercloud and that often precedes the formation of a tornado.

Multiple viewers have sent images and video of funnel clouds that they have seen.
WINK News Meteorologist Lauren Kreidler says “Heavy downpours will continue into this evening across Southwest Florida, with lightning and heavy rain.”
The Weather Authority has also received tips and video on hail spotted in Fort Myers.
