Northeast has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Petersburg recently and they’ll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings will challenge the Green Devils at 4:00 p.m. Northeast will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Northeast is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lakewood on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-1 win. The team’s explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.
William Creswell looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Peyton Schmidt was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Northeast is 6-2 when Schmidt posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Connor Mook was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Northeast hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team’s really been improving in that area: they’ve now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matchups.
Canterbury typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday St. Petersburg proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Leo Smith‘s shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Petersburg secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Andrew Hobbs, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
St. Petersburg is on a roll lately: they’ve won eight of their last ten contests. That’s provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Northeast, their record is now 11-8.
Northeast came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Petersburg when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won’t have the home-field advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
